I took advantage of the great weather today, and did a trip around Long Island in Back Bay. The weather was perfect, although a little windier the I would have liked at the end, 10 MPH in the face.
There was not a whole lot going happening on the bay today, it seems that the transition to fall has already started. All the smaller birds have left to the South, and none of larger birds have yet to return from the North...
There was a lot of activity just under the water, as it seemed every stroke of the paddle would startle near by fish sunning near the surface.
The water seemed a lot clearer then in the past, but there is also a lot more plant life, so I am guessing that there may be a correlation here, which would be a good thing. The water was clear enough that while on the West side of the island, I could almost always see the bottom. It would have been nice if the water level was a little higher, as it was down enough and the plant life was thick enough that it was hard to get to some inlets.
