What a great day...
Since it was the first weekend of the year that the Horn Point Kayak and Canoe facility was open, I decided to give it a go...
Apparently I wasn't the only one, there were a few cars in the parking lot when I arrived. The water was up quite a bit, so my options were pretty open, and I decided on Mill Creek.
The water is still fairly cold, and I didn't see a lot going on, but things should start ramping up soon. Up in the air and trees there was a lot going on with the buzzards, Osprey and a fairly large Blue Heron.
Groups of buzzards were circling overhead, and some would come low enough, and I was able to get some nice pictures of them.
As I approached the tree line to the west of the marsh, there was all kinds of activity with the nesting Osprey, not sure if they have laid their eggs yet, or it is still nest building time. I managed to a great sequence of pictures of one of the Osprey snagging a stick off of a tree in flight.
Came across a Blue Heron, and it did not budge as I passed by, giving me a great opportunity to get some really nice pictures there as well.
All in all a real nice day.
