All the forecasts this morning had things looking ugly after noon today, so I figured I could sneak a quick one in this morning. Well the forecast was not totally correct, as the Low to our South stalled a bit, and the off shore winds made for a beautiful morning and afternoon.
I opted for a quick run up Ashville Bridge Creek, for a peek a the Lotus, as it is time for them to start blooming, so i thought I would check it out the long way.
Arriving at Horn Point the usual "Eco" tour was departing, and I didn''t want to get stuck behind a dozen or so "Eco" tourists, so I had a quick chat with Danny, and off I went.
Caught up with the "Eco" in no time. I think it was by the second turn, and from there on in the creek was pretty much mine.
Made it up to the lotus in pretty good time, and they pretty much dominate the Northern most quarter mile of the creek, and that is pretty impressive considering that they had essentially disappeared for for so long. The first blooms are just beginning to appear, and as far as I could tell the plants towards the North are further along then the rest. I imagine that the next couple weeks will be even more impressive as the peak for blooming comes closer.
On my return I came across a great wild rose, that looked like it was just past it's peak, but still had plenty of beauty left to enjoy.
Pretty much hauled butt down the creek, for no apparent reason, except to see if I could maintain a good speed for the distance.
The wind was building, so I took a pass on a loop around the North end of Back Bay. After getting the boat tied down, I stopped and chatted with Danny for a while, and enjoyed the weather as well as the scenery.
