The weather today was great, sunny Mid 70's, wind was about 10mph built to 15mph with gusts to 20mph. I had the boat loaded up, and was getting ready to leave when my daughter pops her head out and asks if her and her friend can go along, being Mr. Good Dad, Put the other rack on the other car, rearranged the garage, pulled down the tandem, and an hour later we were on our way. I guess it is now warm enough for her to enjoy the water again.
I haven't been to Smith's Creek since New Years Eve, and the difference was apparent. My daughter and her friend were on a mission to seek out turtles, and they were not disappointed. We came across several dozen turtles, caught 2 as the others were a bit more skittish and dove in the water quickly. The convinced me that Blackjack needed a friend, so the baby came home with us, it is named Fhin, after a character in a story she is working on. Documenting the growth and development of Black Jack and Fhin, will be a summer science project. During the trip we also spotted 4 snakes, 1 cottonmouth, and 3 Brown Water snakes, 2 of which were apparently busy making more Brown Water snakes. Other then that, it was a really nice day on the water with Kay and her friend.
